The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults or RCIA is a catechumenate process for children and adults comprised of several distinct rites or steps. The process contains a period of instruction as well as sacred rites celebrated at successive intervals.
Children who have reached the age of reason, commonly at the first grade level and children of all grade levels after the first grade are welcomed into the Rite. All children must be instructed in the faith for at least two consecutive years along with additional times for processing in the Rite. Customarily, by the fourth grade level of instruction, the Initiation Sacraments will be given at the Easter Vigil.
An Inquiry Session is required between the child, parent(s), and the Director of the RCIA. Contact the Director of Religious Education for more information.
