Dear Parishioners:
As we begin this calendar year, our parish is offering several events to celebrate our 150 year anniversary.
This past September we began the celebration with a re-dedication of the Garden of Innocents mural. Nestled between the church and the school, the mural was completed twenty years ago under the guidance of Victoria Thompson. It reminds us of the dignity of every child, and how precious each one is in the eyes of God. It continues to be a source of inspiration and joy for our community, and encourages us to support our families in faith. You are welcome to come and savor the peace it brings.
Our next celebration will be February 1st, the feast of St. Bridget. Mass is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. followed by all day Eucharistic Adoration with benediction at 4:00 p.m. We have this wonderful opportunity during this time of Eucharistic Revival to spend some time with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Jesus is present to us. He is the source of our life and ministry. Come let us adore him! There will be sign-up sheets in the back of the church for you to schedule the time of your visit.
On February 11th, we will celebrate marriage. A special blessing will be given at the 4:00 p.m. mass followed by dinner and entertainment in the parish center. Babysitting will be available. Reservations can be made by purchasing tickets after Mass a couple weekends before the event or at the parish office. Congratulations and thank you for your faithfulness to your commitment.
Upcoming planned events include: May 1st, the parish May crowning will take place in church; Fr. Gregory Bim-Merle will present an organ recital on May 21st; an ethnic potluck supper is scheduled for June 27th; our parish picnic is July 23rd. Our celebrations will conclude with a Mass presided by Bishop McClory and celebration dinner on Saturday, September 30th. More information to come for these events as they approach; so be sure to pay attention to the bulletin.
Finally, our pastor emeritus, Fr. Bertino, will give us historical facts about our parish in a monthly insert in the bulletin. It is my hope that can gather at these times, come together as a parish family and enjoy our 150 years as St. Bridget parish.
Sincerely,
Fr. Ben
